It’s been more than 10 years since Timothy Smith first melded the sound of his trumpet to live house music. An absolute crowd favourite, Timmy Trumpet has reached world domination with fans across the globe. By 2015 Timmy was voted Australia’s #1 DJ in the inthemix awards. And we couldn’t be more stocked to have Australia’s current #1 DJ come party with us at Marquee Sydney.
To celebrate Timmy Trumpet coming to Marquee Sydney, here’s a quick look at how Timmy got to the top:
THE MAN AND THE TRUMPET
Timmy’s first love is most-definitely the trumpet, a long time before he started djing and music production, Timmy found himself falling in the love with the art of jazz music. In fact, at age 13 he had already won the Young Musician of the Year and was granted a full scholarship by the Sydney Conservatorium of Music! Wow.
FROM JAZZ TO HOUSE MUSIC
How does a trumpet player become a DJ you ask? It seems Timmy was freakishly good at playing the trumpet #likeforrealz. Timmy developed perfect pitch at a young age, meaning he can play the trumpet in sync to pretty much any tune with relative ease. After jamming to jazz, he soon discovered he could do the same with house music…
THE STAFFORD BROTHER INFLUENCE!
Once Timmy saw the success in the live-trumpet/dj crossover he knew his future lay in dance music and not jazz. It didn’t take long before the Stafford Brothers heard about a guy with a trumpet playing to house music. They quickly contacted Timmy and within months had him as their main supporting act while touring Australia.
GET YOUR FREAK ON!
Timmy’s track Freak with Savage propelled his career to new heights in 2013. Already a fan favourite among the Aussie dance music crowd, Freaks introduced Timmy to an even larger international and national audience after hitting Australian radio.
#1 DJ IN AUSTRALIA
In 2015, Timmy Trumpet was voted the #1 DJ in the inthemix awards. Now that’s a triumpet (see what we did there?).
