“Trance is the kind of music that puts smiles on peoples faces. It’s designed to make people feel great and forget about the trouble that they may face every day.”
– Ferry Corsten
Here at Marquee Sydney, we have hosted some of the biggest parties, popped bottles with some of the biggest stars and seen performances from some of the biggest DJs. So to farewell the spring season we welcomed the summer heat with a huge line of A-list artists from the 2013 Stereosonic line-up.
Over the past few weeks, cities across the country have been experiencing Stereosonic’s first ever two-day music festival. The event showcased the world’s largest musical acts from all spectrums of the electronic community and allowed ticket holders to immerse themselves into a world of pure EDM bliss. This year’s line-up saw the likes of Armin Van Buuren, David Guetta, Calvin Harris and Afrojack all performing across the two day festivities.
On Saturday 30 November, a piece of the summer festival was brought to our dance floor with Ferry Corsten and Showtek headlining our main room. After their spectacular performance at Stereosonic’s first installment, the two EDM superstars headed on over to Marquee for their Sydney sideshow act.
By midnight, the club was packed with party goers as well as festival goers kicking on from Stereosonic. Joining them were our resident DJ’s; Johnny Gleeson, K-Note and ZeroCool, prepping themselves for one wild night.
For those who have been living under a rock and don’t know who Showtek and Ferry Corsten are, now is the tim
e to find out.
In just under a decade of hitting the music scene, this dynamic Dutch duo transgressed from techno music to hardstyle and has now exploded into EDM. Wouter and Sjoerd Janssen otherwise known as Showtek are two brothers who started their music career in a small town of the Netherlands.
In 2007, Showtek debut their album Today is Tomorrow and exceeded the expectations of dance-lovers worldwide. Two years later they released their second album Analogue Players in a Digital World at the Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE), which gained them global recognition for their ingenious musical talent in cross-genre composition.
The duo has worked and produced tracks with names such as Tiesto on ‘Hell Yeah!‘ Hardwell on ‘How We Do‘ and Justin Prime on ‘Cannonball‘. Showtek have rocked the floors from Singapore to Ibiza with their hard-hitting beats and since the new year is fast approaching, expect nothing but the best from the two.
DJ/producer/remixer Ferry Corsten has been a part of the music industry for over twenty years. Many consider him to be an innovative pioneer of his generation, having reinvented trance music. Over the years, he has developed a strong reputation for his powerful onstage presence and unforgettable sets.
In 2005 and 2007, Ferry Corsten won Best Trance DJ at the Ibiza Awards and was also named ‘DJ of the Year’ by the national Dutch radio station Slam!FM. His euphoric sound has been heard in nightclubs across Asia, Europe and the United States.
This Dutchman has released three international albums under his name, established one of the most interactive radio shows in the world and helped launch the careers of artists such as Tiesto and Armin Van Buuren.
There is no doubt that both Showtek and Ferry Corsten have made a name for themselves in the music industry. After their stop over here at Marquee Sydney for their Stereosonic sideshow, we hope to see them next year in 2014!
