This Wednesday, Marquee Sydney is turning up the heat with the launch of its first I Love Salsa night. Hosted by two of Australia’s best Latino DJs, Don Juan and Dante Rivera, I Love Salsa is the perfect night out for any dance lover. Doors will open at 8pm with a free Salsa dance lesson at 9pm, so arrive early!
Whether you’re a seasoned Salsa dancer or just a lover of all things Latino, there will be something in it for everyone with Sydney’s hottest Latino DJs playing nothing but the best Salsa mixed with a little bit of Bachata & Merengue. And if that doesn’t get your heart racing, the hottest dancing couple every Wednesday night will receive a $250 gift card for The Star.
But before you join in the heat, learn a bit about our two amazing host DJs.
With over a decade of experience under his name, Don Juan is easily regarded as one of Australia’s top Latino DJs. Despite shaking hands with such huge names as Usher, Black Eyed Peas and Cypress Hill, Don Juan was responsible for the release of the first official Reggaeton Mix CD (Universal Records) in Australia.
He is a proud leader within the Latin community, was the winner of the Australian Latino DJ Competition in 2002, hosted his own radio segment called “Latin Flava” for 6 years on 88.1FM and spun a mix of Reggaeton weekly on the Edge 96.1FM.
On the other side of the decks we have one of Sydney’s original and best Latino DJs, Dante Rivera. The Peruvian-born South American has been DJing in Australia for over two decades and has now begun producing his own music.
Dante’s musical talent has made him an on demand DJ all around Australia and South America, and at the 2000 Sydney Olympics he was the main DJ for the Latin athletes. He’s smashed the decks at Sydney clubs including the Argyle, Establishment and Opera Bar – now it’s time for Dante Rivera and Don Juan to join forces for I Love Salsa every Wednesday night here at marquee Sydney.
You don’t want to miss out on being a part of Salsa history in Australia do you? So don your dancing shoes, grab a partner and meet me on the dance floor.
